A French Film Revolution-
Actually a Film about the French Revolution
Hollywood often sensationalizes (exaggerates) different historical periods or events to be able to make more “exciting” plots for their movies.
Such a thing does not need to be done with a historical event like the French Revolution. During the “Reign of Terror” an estimated 16,000 to 40,000 people were publically executed by the guillotine (pictured below) -including the King & Queen. The rhetoric and violence of the French Revolution makes it an easy target for Hollywood.
…but little has been done about the revolution.

The Assignment
Even though this class does not have the funds to produce a full length feature film about the Revolution, I do believe we are capable of recording at least a trailer for what would be a “film”.
For this assignment you are going to have to write out a script, record your script and sync pictures up to the recording using software on our school computers. If you want, we can bring in a video camera and you can actually record your “production”. (The second option will earn you extra credit if it is well done).
If you are not willing to do either of the above you can simply make a movie poster for partial credit.
Important things to include in your project would be the;
-name of the event (French Revolution & Reign of Terror)
-the causes & main “events”
-the important “characters”
And lastly
-some quotes of the rhetoric from the event (Quotes from Robespierre, etc.)
