Bill o’ Rights
We take a lot of things for granted here in the States, and often it is not until we have had our rights violated that we realize how important they are.
The U.S. Constitution would not have been ratified without the addition of the Bill of Rights- many people feared that the government could become too powerful.

Know your History
English Bill of Rights
But our Bill of Rights was not the first one ever produced. Before the American Bill of Rights there was the Virginia Bill of Rights and before that was the English Bill of Rights. Do deny the fact that there have been many more cases where people wrote down their “rights” would be wrong- but we credit these three with being the “most important”.
Pairing Rights.
As you just learned the Bill of Rights in the U.S. Constitution was not entirely unique- it has a lot of the same “ingredients” that the English Bill of Rights has. I have sets of six different “rights” from the U.S. Constitution and their counter-parts from the English Bill of Rights.
It is your task to take these un-numbered cards and put them into groups based on like content. So each “pair” has one American Right & One British Right. For example if you found an American Right talking about freedom of fast food choices – you should look for something similar in the mix of British rights…
Everybody understand? Clear as mud? OK – GO!
